My 41st birthday present to myself was to take up running again and even though I don’t run much, I do run and more importantly, I love it.   I’ve downloaded this program which takes you to 5 Ks in nine weeks and eases you into running by making you walk much more than actual run to… [Read more…]

So smug

I was when leaving the physio’s gym Monday afternoon. Such big smile in my face, laughing from joy in the beautiful sunshine all the way to the station after having been cleared for running: She could not, not even when being really meticulous, find one single thing to critize about my running gait. She’s still not positive about running… [Read more…]

Well, not exactly!! Though my back did kill me after yesterdays PT session. Okay, so he pushed it a bit harder than usual and I quite liked being pushed; both mentally and physically. Being in pain, after exercising, completely got the better of me - exercise is normally what saves me from myself!! But not yesterday! So an… [Read more…]

… when in pain, the best. In complete agony this morning when I got out of bed. Could really feel how the physio had pressed on some swollen joints. Like the whole of my lower back had cramped up. After half an hour’s waiting in bank in such a bad state that I asked my PT to… [Read more…]

Almost too good to be true, I have now had two days without serious pain; in fact I haven’t felt any discomfort at all today – and that despite the fact the physio pressed on my joints quite severely this morning. I was even able to put in an hour of light cardio after having seen… [Read more…]

Must be if counting the number of times I’ve had my back killing me. And today is no different. Spent all of yesterday outside in cold, chilli weather watching my daughther and her fab team mates from Molesey Junior B WildCats win the Surrey County League Cup U11 in a not very well played, but… [Read more…]

Stuck between physio’s and personal trainer’s view as regards to extreeme sports

AM: Still slight pain in lower back! PM: Total agony!!! Physically and mentally. I saw the sports physio today; not much sport about her though. She literally put her fingers in her ears and said she wasn’t listening when I told her about the marathon: “The human body is not meant to do extreeme sports… [Read more…]

Woke up a little stiff in lower back, but not in pain. Hamstrings and knees fine. Later in the day I experienced tiredness, soreness and aching in lower back. Wondering if it’s from running or the new weights’ regime…. most probably the running ;-( I am very excited about seeing the sports physio tomorrow morning,… [Read more…]
